Family was very important to him, and he was a strong believer in access to education.His 1950 graduation year book from the University of Toronto stated that for the future, he wanted to enjoy life.He had a rewarding career and used his engineering and business talents with such organizations as Alcan, Canron, Studebaker-Worthington, Government of Canada, Wilson Machine, and Canadian British Consultants.
Additionally, he was the Executive Director for The Engineering Institute of Canada, the Canadian Society for Electrical & Computer Engineering, and The Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering.
Christie was involved on a volunteer basis with a number of organizations including Ottawa-Carleton Housing, Canadian Executive Service Organization, and Ashbury College.

Born in Halifax, he is a son of Margaret and the late George Andrews.
Survived by his loving family: wife Patricia (nee Clapp), son Mark (Victoria), daughter Michele (Alden, and granddaughter (Leah) and daughter Alison (Terry), his sister Joanie Blackhall, sister in law Mildred Greenwood and many nephews and nieces.
