She was a member of Hickory Mountain Baptist Churchwhere she helped with Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed reading her Bible, and visiting in the nursing homes.

She always welcomed and received everyone with a smile.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. Surviving are his daughters, Connie Ferguson (Melvin), Jackie Brown (Sam) of Siler City; son, Jerry Walters (Annette) of Siler City; four grandchildren, James Mize (Shannon), Doug Mize (Christina), Katina Ferguson (Chris), Joseph Walters and ten great-grandchildren. He was a faithful servant to God and was a long time member of Gospel Baptist Churchin Archdale, N. His church family was his extended family, whom he loved very much.
