George Curtis Phillips, 80, a resident of Trinity, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 20, 2013, following a brief illness. George was self-employed and worked with his wife Shirley.
at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home and other times at the family home. Louise was blessed with great talent and a beautiful singing voice, having performed at many weddings, funerals, and at church. He attended Mount Vernon United Methodist Churchand retired, after 31 years of service, as a salesman with Elanco Products, Inc., a division of Eli Lilly. She was part owner of Southern Supreme Fruitcake Company, where she loved coming up with new candy items. He was a trained appliance repair technician and owned Bush-Cockman Appliance in Siler Citybefore opening and operating Bush TV and Appliances and Bush Video Store in Libertyuntil 2001. Family and close friends were invited to the graveside service. The funeral will be Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to breast cancer research or a charity of donor’s choice. Ethelda Phillips Stumpf, 81, of7490 Siler City-Glendon Road, Bear Creek, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospitalin Greensboro. Her passion in life was caring for her family, friends and everybody she came in contact with. Grandchildren are Shane and Troy Spencer and Dylan, Liam and Olivia Tastet. Luther is survived by one sister, Brenda Willis of Bolivia, NC, and one brother, James R. Luther was a member of First Baptist Church of Siler City. She was a member of Hickory Mountain Baptist Churchwhere she helped with Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed reading her Bible, and visiting in the nursing homes.
She always welcomed and received everyone with a smile.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. Surviving are his daughters, Connie Ferguson (Melvin), Jackie Brown (Sam) of Siler City; son, Jerry Walters (Annette) of Siler City; four grandchildren, James Mize (Shannon), Doug Mize (Christina), Katina Ferguson (Chris), Joseph Walters and ten great-grandchildren. He was a faithful servant to God and was a long time member of Gospel Baptist Churchin Archdale, N. His church family was his extended family, whom he loved very much.
